My son is VERY excited about his new apartment in a big Victorian home that has been split up into 3 units. The owner lives in one of them and rents the other two out. As was my suspicion, when I added up what the owner is getting for rent, I told my son, “The 2 apts. are paying your landlord’s mortgage, insurance and his real estate taxes.” He replied, “You think so?” I said, “Yep, this guy is smart! This is the smartest way to build an asset…. let others pay for it for you, plus you live for free. It’s both Dave Ramsey and Robert Kiyosaki’s approach.” He said, “Hmmmm….” (I think his wheels are turnin’. Next stop could be a rental he also lives in.) How’s your money mindset?
