How to have the time to DO WHAT YOU WANT to do

“I’m so busy! I feel like I’m running in circles! Where does the time go?”

One of the most common New Years Resolutions is to find more time to do the things you really WANT to do. Is it really possible to make more money and find more time? YES!!! The answer lies within two letters. The letter “H” and the letter “V”:

NEED / WANT NEED / WANT

H V

Imagine that the things you NEED to do are one side of the letter “H” and the things you WANT to do are the other side. We spend so much our time focusing on what we need to do all day long (like at work, for example) then we run the bridge to get to the other side of our lives.

When we get to the other side (for example, at home) we go, go, go in order to get all our home tasks completed. Then we cross back over the bridge to work and do it all over again, leaving us with no energy for either of the two sides.

Now, envision your needs and wants blending together without a bridge to cross. This looks like the letter “V.” Here we can blend our needs and wants so that we can give our all at both.

Once you find that balance between needs and wants (or work and home, for example) then the two can work together instead of against each other. Life will become more fluid and balanced which will result in more productivity (at work) and more quality personal time (at home).

I have a saying that I live by: “Quality at work; Quantity at home.” I am a speaker, author, business leader and an entrepreneur, but first and foremost, I am a mother and a wife.

Why We Do What We Do

Dear Donna,

I Gained at Thin&Healthy’s Total Solution!

Because of the knowledge I gained from the staff at Thin & Healthy my life is forever changed.  I didn’t realize I was always running to food for comfort, and I was sure exercise was some kind of punishment for not being thin already.  I’ve learned that exercise is not only NOT a punishment, it’s actually a REWARD!

Because I either lift weights or fast walk 5-6 times each week, my blood pressure is totally under control.  Because of the weight I’ve lost, my marriage has a rekindled passion.  Because my confidence has climbed and my attitude has improved, I have a happier outlook.  And because I view life as better, LIFE IS BETTER!

I’ve received a promotion at work because I miss less, do more and am a joy to be around.  Let’s just say I wasn’t a joy before.  In fact, I was pretty miserable.  I was choosing to fix my sadness with food.  Now the sadness is very seldom.  If I do get frustrated, I have answers that don’t equal added weight to my body.  I truly am in a constant state of victory!  Yes, I gained as a member of Thin & Healthy – I gained my life back!

~Forever Thin and Healthy

I am sharing this testimonial because it explains so very well why we do what we do.  We provide so much more than weight loss.  We save lives.  I wanted to share this note I received because I believe it puts everything into perspective.  We do so much more than help people lose weight.  We help people gain in all the other areas of life.

Because of Thin & Healthy’s Total Solution, this member gained passion, confidence, a positive attitude, happiness, a promotion, better health, productivity, more money and joy!  This is why we do what we do!  If you or someone you know isn’t experiencing these kinds of life changes, we are here to help!

Magic Potion for Positive Change

Recently I re-learned something that just stood up and poked me right in the nose, especially after I allowed myself to really absorb the point. I found out QUICKLY that my whole world could (and did) change if I took what I re-learned to heart. I’ve discovered a magic potion for positive change, a downright miraculous tip for bringing about good stuff in your life and business.Do you know that when someone really bugs you – you know, the person that gets under your skin so badly — that’s because of an internal reflection we don’t want to see. It’s called ‘projecting’. Who is it for you? Who is it that really drives you nuts, makes you cry, stresses you out, and causes you to just want to SCREAM? Well, what is it about that person that drives you crazy? Go ahead, define it. What about them makes you nuts?

Psychology shows us it’s far less painful to see in someone else what you don’t want to see in yourself. I asked the psychologist on our advisory board what percentage of the time it’s the case that what makes us crazy about someone else is actually an issue we’re not willing to face about ourselves?

I said to him, I know that we’re dealing with human beings so it’s tough to give a percentage. I’m sure sometimes a person just bugs us for another reason. But if you could guess, what percentage of the time would you say that projection is the case when someone is really getting under our skin?”

He replied with an answer I NEVER thought I’d hear. You could have knocked me over when he said, “One hundred percent of the time.”

I said, “Did you just say, ‘ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the time?’”

He said, “If we’re not responding, Donna, we’re reacting. It’s that simple. And we’re reacting to something that’s pushing our buttons – projecting.”

So there’s your first tip. If you truly want success you need to identify the stuff that needs improved in yourself. After all, that’s what personal development is all about. And, since pointing out the yucky stuff in us isn’t something we enjoy letting someone else do, why not do it ourselves? The next time you start to feel crazy over something this person has done or said, remember it’s one hundred percent of the time something you don’t like about yourself.

Ask yourself, “What is it that drives me crazy about them? Now it’s time for me to face that part of my personality I don’t want to see. What can I do about it?” I promise you my friend–you’ll see nothing but improvement after that! A bonus is that you’ll find fewer faults with others too. Even if you weren’t telling them, the voice in your own head was telling you negative things, but it can’t accuse others of wrongdoing if it’s focusing on self-improvement.

Second – Stop comparing yourself to others!!! It’s wisdom to look to others for inspiration, ideas and research. When we doubt what can be or when we feel stuck we can find inspiration in the fact that someone is accomplishing. This yells the truth at us that it can be done! We can get ideas by looking at others because we see what is actually being done. This ignites our own creativity. And finally, using the work of others for research tells us how something is being accomplished, and what methods and systems are being used. BUT we should not compare ourselves to them. In order for true success to occur we need only look to ourselves for comparison. Then–with all your might–work to beat your best. When you do that–work to beat your best–success will happen. Don’t work to beat someone else; it creates unhealthy competition and too often negative feelings. Work to beat your best and before you know it, you’ll be heads and shoulders above your competition!!!

Third – Be aware of what negative words can do to your life. Before you realize it they pull you in and then down. Once down, it’s pretty tough to get back up again. Too often we don’t (or won’t) realize the negative around us. Use the simple question, “Are my thoughts and the words I say — as well as the words I hear from others — getting me closer to or farther from my goal?” Don’t be so pompous as to think it won’t get to you. It does. Maintain the positive and the solution will always reveal itself. The way I do this is to simply pray for wisdom. It works like a miracle!! I believe God wants us to be happy, prosperous, joyous and positive. When we pray for wisdom He helps us be just that–wise–and wisdom isn’t negative.

Lastly, EMBRACE THIS TRUTH! THERE IS ALWAYS A SOLUTION!!!!!!! There is always a way to overcome an obstacle, get better, grow more, do better, have more. There is always a way. Maintaining that outlook on life is without a doubt what has taken so many leaders, sales people, entrepreneurs and millionaires to the place they found themselves. There is always a solution. There is always a solution. There is always a solution. There is always a solution!

What Do You Care About?

“Character is higher than intellect.  A great soul will be strong to live as well as think.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Five simple words can really be used to sum up character.  What do YOU care about?  It’s been said that character (or who you REALLY are) is who you are when no one else is watching.  I’ve added to that, when you’re under pressure and no one else is watching.  At that time when you’re feeling overwhelmed, under accomplished or things look like you may never get your goal— what goes through YOUR mind?  Is it a positive, hope-filled outlook or one of dismay?  Do you kick into a high gear of solution creativity or do you just want to run?  Do you think of what you can do with and learn inside of the day you been given or think about all the reasons things haven’t worked and all the things you’ve done wrong?  Every day is a new day!  Ideas are in your mind just WAITING to be birthed!  Take heart and know that believing and being determined will far outweigh what can be learned.

Life is Short Decide today to think and to LIVE well.

Success… success unto you, and ALL your hand touches!

Donna.

Going Back and Doing It Again

“If at first you don’t succeed, go back and do it again.”  ~Dov Charney, CEO American Apparel

A while back 20/20 aired a show called The New Rich.  IT reviewed four new entrepreneurs who’ve made it huge and some of the reasons they believe it’s happened.  Dov Charney is from Canada.  During college, he brought 15,000 t-shirts into Canada from the U.S.  He had success with selling them.  He dropped out of college and with a borrowed $10,000.00 he moved to the Carolinas and began American Apparel, making cotton apparel in the USA, for the world.  When other manufactures began making their items abroad, for sixteen cents an hour, he was forced into bankruptcy.  Now wait!  Listen to this.  He wasn’t defeated.  He decided there had to be a better way that he had just not yet found.  He was passionate about his idea and knew he could get other people to be too.  So, a college drop out, with a $10,000.00 loan and a bankrupt company continued in the SAME BUSINESS in the SAME COMPANY.

The show was aired from the company’s 800,000 square foot manufacturing facility in L.A. where he pays his employees, all immigrants, about $12.00 per hour.  They’re happy, he’s happy, and… oh yes… the company now has 30 stores and will do $200,000,000.00 in sales this year.  Maybe there’s something you’ve tried and not seen the results you hoped for.  You can begin again, differently, and see your dreams come true.  Dov said, “It only takes passion for what you’re doing and belief that big things with it are possible.”

Life is Short. I’ll not quit or see things as hopeless.  I’ll realize people go through situations all the time that are less than ideal and I’ll remember I can not only start again, but succeed even more than I thought I would in the first place.

The TOP 6 Ways to Stay Motivated

1. Get Motivated Every Day. Zig Ziglar was once confronted about being a “motivational speaker.” The guy said to him, “You guys come and get people hyped up and then you leave and the motivation goes away. It doesn’t last, and then you have to get motivated again.” Zig reminded the gentleman that baths are the same way, but we think it is a good idea to take a bath every day!

It is true that motivation doesn’t last. We have to renew it each and every day. That’s okay. It doesn’t make motivation a bad thing. We simply have to realize that if we want to stay motivated over the long term, it is something we will have to apply ourselves to each and every day.

2. Have a Vision for Your Life. The root word of motivation is “motive.” The definition of motive is, “A reason to act.” This is the cognitive or rational side of motivation. It is your vision. You have to have a vision that is big enough to motivate you. If you are making $50,000 a year, it isn’t going to motivate you to set your goal at $52,000 a year. You just won’t get motivated for that because the reward isn’t enough. Maybe $70,000 a year would work for you. Set out a vision and a strategy for getting there. Have a plan and work the plan.

3. Fuel Your Passion. Much of motivation is emotional. I don’t know quite how it works but I do know that it works. Emotion is a powerful force in getting us going. Passion is an emotion, so fuel your passion. “Well, I like to work on logic,” you may say. Great, now work on your passion. Set yourself on a course to have a consuming desire for your goal, whatever it is. Do whatever you can to feel the emotion and use it to your advantage!

4. Work Hard Enough to Get Good Results. You can build on your motivation by getting results. The harder you work, the more results you will get and the more results you get, the more you will be motivated to get more. These things all build on one another. If you want to lose weight, then lose the first few pounds. When the belt moves to the next notch you will get fired up to get it to the notch beyond that!

5. Put Good Materials Into Your Mind. We call this BYOB- Bombard Your Own Brain. I can’t say this enough – listen to tapes. I still listen to and buy tapes regularly from other speakers so that I continue to learn and grow. Their successes motivate me to attain my own successes! Read good books. Read books that teach you new ideas and skills. Read books that tell the stories of successful people. Buy them, read them and get motivated! Buy great music and listen to it. When participating in an exercise class a good song will actually motivate you to move faster! Music gets you going and motivates you!

6. Ride the Momentum When It Comes. Sometimes you will just be clicking and sometimes you won’t. That is okay. It is the cycle of life. When you aren’t clicking, plug away. When you are clicking, pour it on because momentum will help you get larger gains in a shorter period of time with less energy. That is the Momentum Equation! When you are feeling good about how your work is going, ride the momentum and get as much out of it as you can!

These are simple principles, that when you put them to work regularly, will change your life by keeping you motivated all the time! Get going!

Are You Stuck Running In Place?

“It takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that.” ~Lewis Carroll, author of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
I’ll bet you’re like me.  We go, go, go… only to look up and find ourselves in the same place.  Yes, we DO have to go through a lot of the same maneuvers in order to just maintain life. We need to eat, we need to work, we need to sleep, we need to move, etc.
But consider doing these things differently or – may I suggest – better, so we can be absolutely certain the result will be better too. We can’t just eat, work, sleep or move. We need to do these things purposefully so we can actually get somewhere.
Life is short! I’ll eat like it matters, so I’ll eat healthier. I’ll work on purpose and truly make a positive difference. I’ll sleep soundly and for the amount of hours that are good for me. I’ll move in a way that will have my body being well, fit and healthy. I will do things better so I can move forward!
